    Ran has extensive experience representing clients before all levels of the Israeli courts, including the Israeli Patents, Designs and Trademarks Office, on infringement actions, oppositions, revocations, patent-term extensions, passing-off actions, enforcement and protection of brands, anti-counterfeiting and trade secret disputes, whether as a domestic action or as part of a co-ordinated international enforcement, opposition or anti-piracy proceeding.

     

    Ran is involved in the legislative process relating to amendments to Israel’s Patent Law and other regulations applicable to the pharmaceutical and life science sector. He is a member of AIPPI where he is also a reporter within the Working Committee of the AIPPI, contributing answers to questions on IP law arising from national groups of AIPPI members.

    • The Strauss Group, owner of Max Brenner, which operates a global "Chocolate Bar" chain, in a request for a preliminary injunction and a claim of infringement of the franchise agreement and a violation of its IP rights. The defendant had opened a business of similar appearance and concept to the "Chocolate Bar" while still a franchisee of Max Brenner
    • Israel’s three largest cellphone companies in a multi-million dollar lawsuit served against them relating to the infringement of a patent in the pre-paid area
    • Representation in patent opposition proceedings on behalf of Thales, a French international hi-tech company, that engages in the design, development and supply of advanced technological systems for a wide array of bodies, including: military and quasi-military bodies, the space industry, governments, airlines, ground transportation industries and more
    • Representing the management of the Israeli Professional Football Leaques 2014 Ltd. in the field of copyright protection in sports broadcasts
    • Waterfall Security Solutions Ltd. in a lawsuit filed against a competitor in the cyber security space on grounds of patent infringement and the theft of trade secrets
    • The Israel Manufacturers Association in a suit brought against it by various non-profit organisations demanding the disclosure of data relating to animal experiments on the grounds of freedom of information
    • Ramot, the technology transfer arm of Tel Aviv University, in a multi-million dollar claim against Cisco Systems concerning a service invention developed by a professor at the university
    • Scar Cutting Tools in copyright arbitration with photographers who had photographed commercial catalogues for the company
