• Dovev is a highly experienced lawyer who advises major global and domestic pharmaceutical and technology-based companies on a wide range of intellectual property issues involving patents, trademarks, designs, copyrights, trade secrets, counterfeiting and brand management, with a particular strength in the life sciences industry.

     

    Dovev also has particular expertise advising on the full range of regulatory aspects relating to pharmaceuticals, life science products, medical devices and food supplements in Israel, including with regard to licensing, testing, manufacturing, Israeli Ministry of Health clearances, product registration, marketing, distribution and commercialisation, as well as product liability issues and class actions.

     

    On the contentious side, Dovev regularly appears before the Israel Patents, Designs and Trademarks Office, including in pre-grant patent opposition proceedings, and all levels of Israeli civil courts and arbitration tribunals on IP cases, including cross-border IP proceedings.  He also represents clients in regulatory matters, particularly petitions to the High Court of Justice.

     

    Dovev's non-contentious practice includes advising on the commercial exploitation of intellectual property rights and IP legal due diligence within the context of M&A transactions, as well as the provision of legal opinions in the pharmaceutical field, in particular concerning issues of freedom to operate.

     

    Dovev actively contributes to the Israeli legislative process on matters relating to intellectual property and regulatory matters, for example, representing the Pharmaceutical Division of the Manufacturer's Association of Israel on the drafting of Israel's main piece of legislation regulating medical devices, and assisting the Israeli Ministry of Health in the preparation of regulations and guidelines concerning pharmaceutical products and medical devices.

(and its business units in the US, Canada and Israel), the world’s largest generic pharmaceutical company and counted among the 10 largest pharmaceutical companies worldwide, in defending a $100 million suit claiming breach of a non-disclosure agreement and misappropriation of trade secret concerning a blockbuster drug
    • Representing Dexcel Pharma in defending a class action claiming non-fulfilment of the regulatory requirements concerning consumer leaflets
    • Representing Iscar in proceedings concerning the payment of remuneration in respect of service inventions, before a unique tribunal, the Judicial Committee for Compensation and Royalties, comprised of a Supreme Court judge and the Registrar of Patents
    • Representing the Manufacturers Association in discussions with the Ministry of Health and in assisting in the drafting of Israel’s new law on medical devices
    • Defending Teva against claims of patent infringement, and advising the company with respect to regulatory matters, including the registration and licensing of its products with the Ministry of Health
    • Representing Lego, one of the world's largest toy manufacturers, in the initiation and execution of seizure orders with respect to counterfeit products and in trademark and copyright infringement proceedings
    • Defending Nokia, the world’s largest mobile communications company with a presence in Israel in a series of patent disputes
